I have personally dubbed myself as a home decor treasure hunter. Working a full-time job, being a new homeowner, and a baby on the way finances aren’t as free flowing. However, my need to change up decor and DIY is out of control, haha. I just recently created a Dollar Store Buffalo Check Platter and am itching to create more! After some daydreaming I have created a list of farmhouse dollar store hacks that I would love to DIY.
The best part of Dollar Store (besides everything being a dollar) is that you can transform ordinary objects into extraordinary decor ideas! With a little glue and some paint you can create almost all of these DIYs for a fraction of the price you would buy them at your local decor store.
Dollar Store Frame Lanterns
Lanterns are a staple in the farmhouse style. My favorite spots for them are as table centerpieces or on the fireplace base. Add some real or battery operated candles to create a warm and cozy vibe. This DIY by GrosGrainFab takes 5 Dollar Store picture frames and some glue to create a minimalist and beautiful lantern.
Vintage Zinc Locker Baskets
The Kim Six Fix blew me away with this simple DIY. Wire basket are perfect for storage and great to be able to see what is in each basket, however, they can be a little bit colorful and out there. Grabbing some baskets and spray painting them silver or maybe even a dark bronze can definitely bring the farmhouse style to life.
Farmhouse Block Letters
I find this hack by The Little House of Four to be the cutest thing ever! Transform everyday children’s blocks into a great spot to place quotes and messages.
Foam Board Signs
I have always adored these wooden framed signs and wish I could put them in every corner of my home. However, I apparently have expensive taste, haha! Little House of Four amazes me once again by showing multiple ways to recreate these signs with foam board!
Farmhouse Plate Decor
Average But Inspired (adore this blog name) created these beautifully simple plates for kitchen decor! Simple definitely goes a long way.
Rustic Cotton Stems
Cotton stems are a great staple piece you can use all sorts of way in your home decor style. I have seen these cotton stems used just simply in a vase like this for a centerpiece and commonly on wreaths. However, a single stem can be fairly pricy at your local craft store, so Meet Our Life shows how you can create your own from branches in your backyard and some dollar items!
Tea Towel Pillows
You can never go wrong with pillows if you ask me. Grab any sort of fabric and a poly-fil and you can pretty much make whatever you want! These tea towel pillows from The Wood Grain Cottage are perfect for any the dining area.
DIY Cotton Wreath
Like the DIY cotton stems above, you can easily recreate the staple farmhouse cotton wreath with dollar store items. Check out the full tutorial from Five Little Bears.
Prodigal Pieces repurposes cake tines and table leg parts to create a farmhouse style 3-tiered stand. Though this tutorial has some more non-dollar store items you can definitely create a similar look with items you find at Dollar Tree.
Farmhouse Carrot Decor
Holidays are the perfect excuse to change up your home decor. This Easter season I saw some pins on Pinterest that had super cute carrot decor. Of course, the Little House of Four, came through with the perfect inexpensive DIY to make your Easter decor look high end.
You would have no idea these were a dollar store DIY! I am already prepping for fall and just can’t wait for that autumn weather. This DIY by The Latina Next Door is making me extra excited to decorate!
DIY Farmhouse Tray
Trays are a great option to use in bed or to set things on the living room ottoman. This farmhouse tray by Simple Made Pretty only cost $3!
Dollar Store Pumpkin Makeover
This pumpkin centerpiece by Simply Beautiful by Angela is just that…simply beautiful. It is proof that you can truly do anything with Dollar tree pumpkins!
Buffalo Check Tray
The Latina Next Door does it again with this cute and understated buffalo check tray that is so easy to recreate! If you haven’t noticed, I am a little buffalo check obsessed so this one definitely caught my eye.
Dollar Store Christmas Trees
Okay, I may be getting ahead of myself with the Christmas decor but these Dollar Store trees by Country Charm by Tracy are super cute!
I am so ready to try out some of these DIY’s out. Which one would you put in your home?
