Being pregnant I can honestly say my sense of smell is supersonic. I smell everything! And to me, everything smells not so great. As we begin opening up our homes for summertime after a ridiculously long winter in Maine it is time to make my home smell amazing! These scent hacks will be my go to in creating fresh and welcoming home this summer.
Clever Ways to Make Your Home Smell Amazing
Eucalyptus in the Shower
Andrew had a bad case of allergies yesterday and was feeling so stuffed and just overall crappy. If only I had found this hack sooner! Placing a few sprigs from your local market in the shower will help release the essential oils once steam hits.
Oats in the Fridge
Krazy Koupon Lady recommends putting oats in your fridge to absorb and residual food smells that may be stuck in there!
Air Freshener in the Vent
This scent hack will always be my favorite, I even featured it in my Spring Cleaning Hacks That Will Blow Your Mind post. Adding a car air freshener clip to your vents will help your home smell amazing with zero effort.
Kool-Aid in the Dishwasher?!
I am a sucker for really out of the box hacks and this one is right up my alley. Real Simple says that the citric acid in lemon Kool-Aid can help get rid of stains in your dishwasher. Don’t knock it until you try it, I guess!
Tea Bags in the Closet
Can your closet get a little stale over time? Take some of your favorite tea bags and hang in between hangers in your closet to keep a light aroma throughout. Change out every once and awhile as the scent dies down.
Baking Soda on the Carpet
Mom 4 Real created the easiest baking soda and essential oil blend to help release those trapped carpet odors. Just sprinkle onto any rug/carpet, let it set and vacuum up!
Essential Oils in the Filter
With the warm weather heading our way fans and air conditioners will start to be our best friends! Make it a two in one event by putting drops of your favorite essential oils into the filters. Once the air starts blowing the scent starts flowing (oh god…that was a horrible rhyme).
As my nesting and spring cleaning come together in full swing I definitely plan on trying out these scent hacks to make my house smell amazing!
