In case you missed it, I have some exciting news. Andrew and I are expecting! We told our families and friends a few weeks ago and have just officially announced it on social media and let me tell you, the outpour of love has been so exciting!
When I first found out I was pregnant I went to the doctor’s office and they handed me this large folder of pamphlets all on what to do and what to avoid during pregnancy, one of the biggest things being no more alcohol and tobacco, of course. I immediately said goodbye to my beloved margaritas, but never really took into consideration the tobacco issue because Andrew and I don’t smoke.
This got me thinking about how many of my loved ones will be visiting in the next few months of pregnancy and once the baby is born. Luckily I will be pregnant throughout the summer so cookouts, the baby shower and gender reveal will be outdoors! But I am still considering making visitors more aware that our house is a smoke-free home. No matter whether you are indoors or outdoors you can still breathe in those toxins.
Then I saw a campaign by Breathe Easy Maine challenging all Mainers to take the Smoke-Free Home Pledge noting the dangers of secondhand smoke. Being pregnant for the first time I am super aware of what people do around me and I try to avoid smoke at all costs. I do not want to take any chances in it affecting my baby as he or she grows. It isn’t even just the human baby I worry about. It can affect EVERYONE, even my fur babies as well!
I immediately took the pledge and they sent my Smoke-Free Home Pledge Kit right over! This kit is perfect to label your home as smoke-free in a way that gets your kiddos involved too!
Will you join me in taking the pledge to keep your home smoke-free?
