Over the past few weeks I have really been struggling getting to sleep. Both Andrew and I talk about how we get so tired but the second our heads hit the pillow, BAM wide awake! I began cutting down on coffee and stick to an actual bedtime. However, I found myself still feeling restless and waking up at odd hours of the night. Blue light blocking glasses helped change that!
Of course, the internet hears everything (conspiracy theory)! One day as I was scrolling through Pinterest I saw an ad for these blue light blocking glasses. Now to be honest, Andrew had just gotten two new pairs of actual glasses and I was feeling kind of jealous that he got cool new glasses but I didn’t. I know, people who need them probably think I am crazy and bragging about my vision…I’m sorry! I have seen fake glasses before but kind of felt weird wearing glasses just for fun. Either way that is not why I got these, haha.
What are Blue Light Blocking Glasses?
We spend a lot of our time staring at screens. I look at a computer all day during my day job then I come home and watch Netflix and look at my phone. Screens have this bright blue light spectrum that keeps us alert as we watch television. To see all the science behind it check out this link. Once we turn off the screens and close our eyes our brains are still buzzing from the screens we stare at daily.
With blue light blocking glasses they have a warm yellow tint to counteract the blue light that radiates from screens. It helps to sooth your eyes from the blue light and calm your mind.
Did it Improve my Nighttime Routine?
After work and getting all my afterwork chores done it is time to relax and continue binge watching Netflix. I am currently obsessing over Bones. This is the time that I start to wear the glasses. I spend the next few hours doing absolutely nothing. Then I wash my face and head to bed.
I have been wearing the glasses for about a week and have definitely felt an improvement! Falling asleep has been zero problem and I have actually been falling asleep on the couch sometimes which isn’t normal. I still have been waking up a bit through the night but that is caused by some other issues that are out of my control.
Would I recommend?
Absolutely! The more I use the glasses the more I notice when I am not wearing them. Once I hit the afternoon at work my eyes start to get a bit sore. It is obvious my eyes have adjusted. So if you or someone you know has issues with falling a sleep I highly recommend trying them out.
I got mine for only $16.99 off Amazon which is worth every penny! Find mine here.
