A few weeks ago I went to dinner with four fellow Maine bloggers. It was so nice to meet like minded ladies and I was so happy that they welcomed me with open arms! While we were chatting we were discussing which platforms we excel at. While most of them are great at their Instagram reach my platform is definitely Pinterest.
I am a mini-blogger at best and my reach is far from large. However, my Pinterest reach has always climbed which is odd in comparison to my blog views and Instagram following. Currently I have 497 followers and a 103k monthly viewers and still climbing daily. Here are the four tips I have used to double my Pinterest reach!
Double Your Pinterest Reach Today!
Step Number One: Business Account
Okay so the first step to gaining more Pinterest traffic is creating a business profile and claim your accounts. This can easily be done in your account settings. In order to ensure that people are looking at your blog you need to “claim” your website! You can also make posting through other social media outlets much easier by claiming them in your account settings as well. Here I have my blog, Instagram and Etsy connected.
Step Number Two: Rich Pins
Once you have connected your blog and other medias it is time to double check that your pins are considered “rich pins”. In order to do this you need to go to Rich Pin Validator and put in your website URL. I got a very fast response for them accepting my pins as “rich pins”, however, I have heard from fellow bloggers that it can take a day or two.
Step Number Three: Profile Keywords
SEO and keywords can be such a vital part in getting your blog and pins recognized in search engines. You wan’t to represent your niche from the beginning.
Instead of just having your name in the username section, put a little bit about your blog as well using keywords. I am from New England and post a lot of DIY and Lifestyle content so I made sure I put those keywords into my header. Just be careful of putting too many! Keep it short and efficient. Next is the little bio blurb. I specify where I am from, my age, and a couple things about myself. Then it is time to showcase how you can help your viewers. “Helping beginner bloggers get ahead” is an action statement. It is me telling you what you can expect in my blog and my Pinterest posts. Kind of like a “what you see is what you get” sort of deal.
Step Number Four: Scheduling Pins
The last and most important step to doubling your Pinterest reach is scheduling pins. To keep your profile moving and engaging by yourself would mean being on Pinterest every second of the day. Ain’t nobody got time for that. About a year ago I was introduced to Tailwind and it truly changed my pinning game. It keeps track of your pins, followers and overall performance.
Being able to track your data frequently is super helpful to see what you are doing right and what needs to be worked on. I will strictly just schedule my blog pins through Tailwind to ensure that those are getting posted frequently and then I will pin on my own all the other stuff that I enjoy. Because I still love pinning other ideas for myself, you could say I am Pinterest obsessed. And the best part, Tailwind will schedule them during high traffic times so you don’t have to! This ensures that you are not bombarding your viewers for one hour of the day and then nothing the rest.
Pinterest Pro Tips
If you made it this far then you get an extra tips, haha! What I was just saying about bombarding can really hurt your followers if they see too much of the same thing on your Pinterest boards. When creating pin graphics (I use Canva) create a couple different versions for the same blog post. Mixing it up can keep people interested and make your boards look more versatile!
My last and final tip is to join Group Boards! If you are a DIY lady like myself I definitely recommend joining my DIY Blogger Babes Pinterest group board. Joining these groups not only helps you connect with likeminded pinners but it also ensures that they will see your content directly and most likely share yours for their own set of viewing audiences!
I hope these Pinterest tips help you double your audience and bring you great success. Happy Pinning! xo Tayla
