The key to crushing Whole30 is CONVENIENCE! Once again, I am writing this before I have even started so stay tuned for my weekly updates to see if I am actually crushing it. If you want to know all about the program and how to get started check out my latest post! With this being said, I need recipe ideas to make life easier this month. I got a waffle iron for Christmas which I am super excited about, however, waffles are not on the menu this January Whole30. So I am compiling all the amazing and clever things you CAN make out of a waffle iron during this program.
Waffle Iron Recipes: Whole30 Approved
Hash brown waffles are the perfect way to stick to the basics. If you are on a time crunch and don’t have enough time to cook hash browns from scratch I would grab bags of frozen pre-made hash browns from your local grocery store and stick them in a heated waffle iron. Classic and easy!
While this recipe is specified for breakfast you could honestly make this anytime. One big things you cannot consume with Whole30 is grains which means bread. So putting sweet potatoes or regular potatoes in the waffle iron creates a perfect loophole when you are really craving a sandwich.
This hash brown waffle recipe actually consists of mixing ingredients. Switch the potato our for cauliflower rice and then mix together meat, veggies (and this recipe consists cheese which is not Whole30) and cook that sucker. A perfect one stop shop type of meal for your busy schedule!
Bacon is tricky with Whole30 but if you find uncured, no sugar added bacon this is such a delicious combo! There is something about sweet and savory that is just devine.
What I remember from my 6 day try of Whole30 a couple years ago was how important eggs can be. Without coffee creamer and pastries it can be hard to think of a quick and easy breakfast idea. Creating waffle omelets is the perfect solution to control those morning cravings.
Here is another recipe that is NOT Whole30 compliant but can be easily adapted to be so. Combining zucchini, almond milk and the other ingredients listed in the recipe you can create some yummy zucchini snacks!
If you do not have a waffle iron I highly recommend grabbing one! Even if you aren’t going on this Whole30 journey like me you can still make tons of different things with it and probably some amazing desserts…but let’s not think about that right now! Happy recipe hunting!
